Yesterday when i was returning after my day at office, i happened to witness a sight which actually moved me. I was sitting in my office transport and the vehicle was waiting for the signal to clear. The signal located in 'Silk board' is well known for it's sheer volume and too being very nasty during peak hours. It takes hours to travel a couple of kilometers sometimes! What actually i wished say here was i saw a sight of an elderly couple walking by the road on the footpath where the husband was blind and he was helped by his wife to walk. He seemed to have no idea of the directions and had to be guided every single step. They walked a couple of meters ahead and reached the signal lamp post. Looked like they were trying to cross the road. Ah! they were unable to as in one or the other direction the traffic was always ON! And with the speed that the man walked and the amount of direction he needed it was tough to get him across the street easily. Finally after trying a few times the woman gave up and spoke something to the traffic policeman who was standing just around the corner of his post. And he too was reluctant in the first place as he probably was worried about the traffic. Finally they managed to cross the street with his help.
Now, there were two thoughts that came into my mind that moment. First, aren't we the normal humans blessed to be able to have all the parts of our body working great and in this case, to see this world through our eyes and do whatever that we wanted to do independently? Secondly, Don't our city development authority have the slightest sens e to provide an over pass or underpass for the pedestrians to cross the road in such a busy junction of the city? Huh!!
Probably this is a rant but then do think on it...
