Wonderful weekend...

A very eventful weekend i must say. A bus trip, a party, iPod shuffle and a bike ride back to Bangalore. Office and back today. And am tiered after a long day at office too. The best part is today i got to go to office by my motorbike. :) And i could save a lot of time going by bike. A usual cab journey takes me about 40 mins one way and now it's reduced to almost half the amount of time. This i must say needs me to speed a bit which is not a problem. ;) Of everything what i liked the best was, i am occupied all these 20 minutes and it is the time my brain is occupied calculating a lot of probabilities on riding, speeding, braking, distance, surface and lot more of the variable that affect driving safely(safely here means without me getting hurt);)
Left Bangalore on Friday night on an overnight bus to Udupi. And this happened only after a bit of confusion at the bus stand of state owned road transport company. An hour late from the actual schedule fully ensured that me and my friend shyam arrived a full hour late at Udupi. Met up with my friends there. Had a bit of catching up to do and the lunch was a treat from me to them. Sai Parivar became our destination for the lunch. This place has great ambiance for a good get together for friends and family. A descent restaurant in Udupi i must say. And surprise surprise, i got a iPod shuffle as a gift from my pals. This was totally unexpected and i was so thrilled to receive one as it's something that i always wanted to own.
Rest of the day went in watching it drizzle all evening and also put across some worried expressions from my parents who were not very pleased to hear that i was traveling back to Bangalore on my bike. Obvious isn't is? 400 odd km on a two wheeler on pathetic roads with rain pouring can be risky business. But what is life if you don't live it to the fullest? So, the next day early in the morning me and shyam set out at 6AM to bangalore. To our luck we didn't rain for a about 50km. And later too it was sort of not heavy with just occasional drizzle here and there. Roads in the ghat section were a bit bad. Once we crossed the shiradi ghat, we literally were speeding. The ride till shiradi was excellent with Karkala, belthangady, dharmastala, kokkada and to NH 48 surrounded with lots of greenry. Roads were pretty good too till we joined NH48. And slowly we did make progress till we crossed hassan negotiating a big stretch of bad roads. Shyam it seemed like was waiting for this moment and chose to speed once we reached stretches of good roads. Reaching speeds like 115 km/hr was something i have not done myself on my bike. ;) A good 6 hours later we did feel tiered. Another 2 more hour struggle on the aching bum took us to our destination. The NICE corridor roads were very inviting and this is probably the only road that i road on where i got the feeling that my bike is not upto it. How much ever i speed, i could find some offroader zooming past me or i myself cursing for not being able to speed more. I think the Yamaha R6 i saw parked by the road was something meaningfully meant for the road. :) And i saw a couple of bike stunt performance on road with some teenagers doing wheelie on their RX 135!! that too with pillion riders.... A wheelie on highway is something i had seen only on youtube.. but i got to see it live yesterday. I must appreciate their guts but i would never risk to do something like that in highway. There are other places on this earth were i could try it sometime.. ;)
So at 4PM we did make it to the city and to our dwelling here. With bike dirty and us tired, we took some rest. Later decieded that the bike would be given for a wash. Clean it ended up in the porch of the house where i stay. :) Was more than happy to ride it to office a good 10KM in the morining. And it was drizzling here too. grinning at myself i did turn the throttle to start what looks like a busy week....

Busy bug...

The word busy seems to have quite found it's way to me now. :( These days i'm either attending meetings, checking bug tracker or fixing the bugs assigned to me. A huge list of 'to do' has been passed to me with dead lines for each deliverable every four days. So things are quite on the busier side at office till July 16th. Good and bad. Good because, i'm getting to learn quite a few things now. Bad because i find no time to contact or speak to friends. I must confess that i have not contacted most of them after i left Udupi. Some of them themselves have made contacts and very few have i myself contacted. Huh! Journey this weekend again. Going to Udupi to get my bike and a small get together with my ex-colleagues are on the cards. Finally have decided to ride my bike all the way from Udupi. A friend of mine will accompany me on the ride.. let me see how interesting it would be. Probably start early in the morning on Sunday. A Udupi-Karkala-dharmastala-kokkada-NH48-bangalore is how i have planned the route. Should be here back in bangalore by evening. A 400km trip in a day should be tiring and quite interesting too. Roads are now not that bad except for a few places in small stretches.
Waiting to meet my buddies on Saturday and the ride back too

To buy a power bike or not?

Lot of friends ask me or rather discuss with me regarding, how sane is it to go buy a motor bike that has higher cc(cubic capacity) and hp(horsepower). I would say it's up to an individual to select or decide his choice of power. Let me put it this way, power has it's set of advantages and disadvantages too. Let me get to this details later on. First let me tell you why i thought i would write this post. I was chating with one of my friends whom i've not met in a couple of years now. I said to him that i have shifted to Bangalore and he was happy for me. After that he asked me if we could meet up somewhere in Bangalore during this coming weekend. I said, I'm off to Udupi to get my bike from there. And discussion led to him asking which bike do i own. Now, when i say i have a 180cc bike which happens to be at the power segment(still economical to afford for people like me) of the bikes available in today's market in India, he asks me whether i am able to use the power of my bike to the fullest possible extent? I'm tired of this question yaar. Common, i didn't buy the bike for it's top speed alone. I bought it for the feel i get when i ride the bike. I bought it for riding comfortably(read this word again it's comfortably) at 80Km/hr on the highway. That's it. And occasionally yes, i do a bit of 100km/hr and odd. But not everyday. So, i thought i would log in some details regarding the choices i made when i bought in my bike here in my blog.

It's very worldly to have disadvantages attached to good that we could get. After all happiness is not everything. he he.. ;) If you happen to ask me my choice, i would any day go with power bike. I just love them. Matter of fact every guy if asked in discretion, would agree to the fact that he would love to own a superbike. I'm damn sure not many would resist the opportunity to own one. Would they resist or would you? Fuel is the obvious and almost always the only reason a person might resist from buying a power bike. A fuel guzzling monster would set anyone into the back foot. So if you want that extra mileage from the bike then ride a small bike with less power and it'll just serve the purpose of going from location A to location B. And believe me no thrill is there in doing that. You won't even enjoy the ride. All you could do is curse the bike for not traveling faster while still trying hard to throttle the vehicle and it scream and shout until it hurts the bike. Believe me, bike gets hurt every time you push it to the limits. It's just like us running a kilometer at full speed. Gasping for breath. Literally choking. Yeah, you get the picture? Something like that. To avoid this maybe what you can do is run at a fair pace which is comfortable to you and your lungs and cover the distance. Now, another variable that comes into picture here is individual capacity of speed at which one can run comfortably fast? This depends on person to person. A unfit guy will be slow and an athlete would be fast. Now, equate these athlete to a power bike and unfit guy to mileage bike. To note here, i'm not saying the mileage bike is unfit. Don't mistake. I'm just comparing the capability of power. The power bike thus can do the speed easily and in a better way than mileage bike. Getting the picture clear? Yeah, it's comfortable to ride a bike with 180cc and 16bhp at your disposal at 80km/hr than pushing an 100cc bike with 9bhp to run at 80km/hr. This is what i aimed at. I set the speed i need to travel at, at 80km/hr in highways or whenever the road is free. And thus i ended up buying a power bike.

Let me tell you one more thing. You might argue with me, still the 100cc bike manages 80km/hr no? I would agree. Believe me, the bike's engine would die quick than that of power bike. Because if it is pushed to it's max every now and then it has no other option but to wear out quicker. :)

I also agree i spend more on the running cost and maintenance is a bit high compared to the low powered bikes once it gets old. Now, this is something that i've not thought on. That is whether i would own my this bike once it runs for 5 years. Now it's only 1 year and 5 months of running. Lets see, how it shapes up. If it manages to be working fine, i would surely keep it. Why not? After all it did give to me it's share of joy to me. It's one thing on this earth that is always ready to obey my orders without ever questioning me in return you see... :)

Missed opportunity

How on the earth could i forget my mom's birthday :( I'm so sad that i forgot to wish her and angry on myself too. It was special for her in a way because it was her 50th birthday. In all the excitement of shifting to Bangalore and the issues surrounding it, i forgot this. What makes it still bad is the fact that i remembered about this 21st june and her birthday quite well till 19th. And somehow i was able to miss out on remembering it on the 21st. She called me up on 22nd and that is when my forgetful brain clicked about it's forgetfulness! Didn't know what to say but, a sorry later everything went fine or so i thought. But i'm still not able to take it off my mind because i did miss out an opportunity to make it special for her by going home for the weekend and wishing her. Hmm, time gone is lost and never comes back. So let this post rest here and let me think what could be an alternative for making up to the lost opportunity. :(

wroooom..

Finally i got hold of a motorbike of my roommate's cousin bro. And to my luck, it was the same make and powered same as the bike that i own. And the feel of the throttle was awesome after a week's break. We had to roam around in the city with some work to be finished. With this opportunity of bike in my hands i maneuvered it around the busy roads of Bangalore. The feel is just something that i cannot explain by putting it in words. The traffic is tight and the best part is there is no scope to loose concentration. A car fellow banging breaks right in front of you or an erratic auto driver or the countless vehicles running on the roads always keeps you guessing and gives you something new every other yard. The distance maintained by each vehicle from each other is very very very less. Sometimes even this gap comes to a very dangerous brushing level. Couple of centimeters is as close as it gets and you can really feel this happen even at speeds like 70 to 80 km per hour. And being on two wheeler has an advantage of just zig zag driving(I know this is wrong and fatal but, i've no option) and there is no one who follows any sorta driving rules. ! Breaks and throttle are used to the extremes. The more power you have the more stopping power is something that is a necessity. Traffic signals are sometimes really very irritating because i never had this in Udupi and i hate staying on bike for minutes doing nothing! BTW, sometimes you get to see some couples sitting so close together as if even an millimeter's gap would blow them away.. And then if it is late and cold then well, i don't need to explain.. he he.. ;)
Over all I'm loving it as of now riding the streets of Bangalore. Hmm.. :)The best take for the day was driving through middle of the 2 two wheelers at a decently faster pace. I know it is not something special for people who drive in metros in India but this is something that I've never done! :)

It's Weekend!

Wow, gotta meet up with my friends whom I've not met in a long time from now. This i don't see it happening at once as getting everyone to a single place at same time seems highly improbable. Anyways i do have time and I'll do this in the weekends that will follow. I'm looking forward to this meetings as I've not met some in ten years now though, we maintained contacts thorough mail or by phone.
Other than that, another visit to Corner house ice cream shop is on the cards.... my mouth is already watering. hehe... :)
Other than that nothing else is seeming to be happening now. Will be logging back Sunday evening. Until then, ciao...
PS: This blog now will be and is concentrating more on how i am getting used to Bangalore for another few days.

Bengaluru Update...

Many things that i see around are new to me now with me in Bengaluru now. :) And as i predicted, traveling to and from office is something that i am trying to get adjusted to. It takes an hour and half out of my day given there are no traffic jams! Ha, And traffic jams seem to love this place. It ensures i waste more of my time sitting in the office transport. Now, this is when i am missing my motorbike. I couldn't get it along with me to Bangalore and had to leave it at Udupi. I need to somehow bring it in another week. Probably ride it all the way about 450Km. Huh! the thought jus gives me goosebumps. I need to cover this in a single day on some weekend. Cool. Thats like a lot with a 180 cc bike and bad roads! Ha. Lemme see. One of my friend has volunteered to ride along or maybe pillion with me. That would be good for company on a long ride. Because i've never ever gone on a ride alone.
The weather is fantastic here. It's cool compared to the coastal humid climate. Another significant thing that i managed after i landed here was visit a nice ice cream selling shop in Jayanagar 9th block. It's called the corner house. Woo.. the one i had was filled with sorts of fruits i've never seen in my life and they tasted very very tasty. Only other place i ever visited to have ice cream which was very good was in mangalore. It's called the Ideals. They too sell superb flavors and they are out of the world. Just try a Tiramisu or Parafait there if you ever happen to be in mangalore. I dont miss an opportunity to have one whenever i visit mangalore. Actually my roommate towed me to this corner house on sunday. He has promised to take me on a ice cream eating trips around here every sundays that we would stay here. So i'm looking forward to this sunday now... hehehee

Bengaluru Special!

Arrived at Bangalore this morning. The night journey of about 400Km in the bus was a quite journey. All my baggage luckily made it too with me safely. ;) Had a lot of it bundled with me too. Packing and shifting after all seems to me is easier said than done. So many things to consider and lot many things decide how comfortable your journey would be! For instance, a overturned bus and an accident(not involving the bus i was traveling in) ensured that we waited in the bus without moving an inch forward in the night for about one and half hours! Ha. And add to it the the factor of rain! For once it seemed like it wouldn't stop raining but then it didn't really pose a serious threat anyways. Just some glitches here and there. And i made it to the city I've been so long resisting to not land up in. :) Now the best part is unpacking and suddenly you realize that you've managed to leave somethings behind even after a thoughtful packing. :)
BTW, what's special about Bangalore? ya, the traffic is so much crazy! Man, driving means a lot of honking, change of gears frequently, braking every 10 meters you cover. I really am not liking this prospect.. :( I'll more likely get used to it in a while and stop complaining about it like a million others who drive on roads here. I'm yet to come across a traffic jam. God knows how would i while away my time sitting whiling away my time and wondering when the traffic would move again! Huh, I'm really not looking forward to this.
For now let me stop it here... my head is real heavy and my body is aching. I need to catch some sleep before i join for work at the new place tomorrow!

Departure...

This week ending would be quite eventful in my life. Change in my geographic presence is on the cards. Was supposed to happen next week but then, i think my employer changed minds and now am sitting here relieved on my duties from my employer. A month's notice for resignation has thus been eventually transformed into a peaceful exit from the company. The place I've been associated with professionally for last 3 years and 6 months. :) It's quite saddening to leave Udupi and the place of work(here). I was in my comfort zone here formed in these so many years of stay. A lot of colleagues who are so good to work with, a lot of friends who've meant a lot to me are to be parted with :( Not that i would never meet any of them, but the short-long term of distances will be there. Maybe they are all just a phone call away or a ping away, but then it's never like before again. Isn't it? Like someone once said 'Change is the only constant thing'! Or something closely meant sentence. Here i stand now with opportunity to make it big. Land of opportunity, here i come. Adding another human to it's ever growing list this city is more than opportunity to me now. Need to explore a lot many things and gets things right.
Lets see how this all progresses.... Now all set to bid a goodbye to a very nice place, Udupi.

Raghu Dixit and Antaragni

There is something that i've been wanting to tell you guys. I jus waited a bit too long to break it here. This, jus to be sure enough that i do really mean what i'm writing here. It was love at first hearing itself for me as i listened to music of Raghu dixit and his band 'Antaragni'. This guy has a great voice i must say. I somehow happen to like the usage of string based instruments in their works. I bow to everyone in the band. Guys, you are doing great work and do keep it up.
Their first commercial album came in march. After that it has been followed up with a music directed for a kannada movie called 'psycho'. Both these works are very different and takes you to another world altogether. I request you to listen to them sometime in your leisure. Also do purchase original music from them. These artists are worth every penny you spend. :)

For more info:
They've a site here @ www.raghudixit.com
They also have updates on themselves blogged down @ theraghudixitproject

PS: I'm in no way associated with the band nor Raghu Dixit. I jus am one of the new inclusions to their fan base that they already have. :)

iPhone 3G!

Wow! Was my reaction to the most happening news i heard in sometime now. Ya, Apple has come up with iPhone 3G, Twice as fast and half the price! Thats what they say at the least :) The gadget looks good. Aesthetics wise there is nothing better than this in phones available in the market now. My full marks. Also the Apple gadget again ups the expectation ante for the mobile phones of tomorrow. No doubt, they keep raising the bar and lead the way in the technology implementation front. Others jus follow what they do. Trying to catch up and we consumers keep wondering what next! My God, a string of new apps will soon be released for this gadget released now. Thanks to app store and the SDK release! Ya, jus like the iTunes music store, there is going to be an online application store! Search and pay for what app you download. Wow! everything sounds simple enough and clear enough. I must say, the GPS feature will really really help people living in the metros. Phew! a sigh of relief for those who do lot of traveling too. :)

Everything said and done now what really is point of concern here in India is, the device for now will be purely working on GSM/2G/2.5G/2.75G (whatever they wish to call!) or will we get to use this phone for next gen with the 3G network features? What remains to see is the bandwidth that an individual user would have access to? in simple terms uplink and downlink speeds :) Are our networks ready to tap the superb features of this phone? Or will it be like you are given a bicycle to travel in a expressway? bicycle being the network here .. ;)

With jus $199 as the price i think there is no need to think much about all this. Any day the iPod feature and the slew of yet to be released games would make this an interesting entertainment device. And what more would you want if you can get browsing capability on the move?(for now limited to indoors here in my place as my wireless router is jus only so much capable)

Update!

Funny title! Atleast it sounds so in this context. I write a update titled post and guess what? it's a update on what i'm upto these days. Not on serious terms but then towards the lighter side of my life. :) So i thought on jus blabbering out the random thoughts right out here. The best part about these few days that jus passed by is the monsoon has set in in this part of my country. Suddenly it has given relief to all the hot climate which was bit of threatening to take a very bad turn. It was so much humid too. Huh! Finally now i cozily sleep in the night with the rain God singing the sweet lullaby for me. :) The sound of rain is so soothing. No music is so sweet i feel. :) I know a lotta people who will get disturbed by rain as it threatens to spoil outdoor activities. Another 3 months of down pour is thus eagerly waited upon by me. If i can put it roughly it's around 400cm of rainfall on an average here at the place where i live. Now that is a lot for three months stretch :) isn't it? Don't be surprised because a place called 'Agumbe' is jus 35Km from here which annually recieves 700-800cm of rain! Thats hell a lot of rainfall.
Leaving wet topics aside, i jus found myself tied up at my parent's place watching a lot of TV this gone weekend. First it was the french open finals between the two ladies(spectacular match i must say) then i got into the football extravaganza Euro cup. Wow, portugal are my favorites. They have a descent team i must say. And they proved they are worth the win by scoring a descent 2 goals against the turkey national team. Cristiano Ronaldo seemed a bit silent and tied down in the first match. The second match between the Czechs and the switzerland seemed quite boring to me. Sunday, was a mixture of regional language movies on the TV. As i grew up as a kid i watched a lotta malayalam movies and am found of them. Some of the best directors of my country hail from this state. And they do carry social themes with them. Though not all, most do. Interesting watch but. Stand up comedy is something very common to see here. Now talking of stand up comedy i got this amazing clip of 45 minutes performance from a canadian comedian Russell Peters. Did some search for him on net and some bio you can find about him here here . Though his style might bring some serious non-racialists to raise a brow, he is worth it if you can take abuses racially. :) Whats in it man. Common give it a try without worrying about races. After all humor is really good if taken in right sense. And more over laughing gives you a fresh mind and and some exercise too. Do not miss his episodes if you find time. I laughed a lot.... it was whole sale laughter bought in cheap. (because i got the clip free) ;)
Hmmm... thats all for now...

An affair of love! How is this for a movie title?

Have you ever thought why a relations works out well or if it doesn't, then why is it that it is failing? The reasons are far too many to even name all of them. Either you need a lot of time to think and explain or abundance of patience to hear the "reasons". A couple of course given the fact that they were total strangers for a major share of their life and even importantly they only discover each other only after meeting each other. This meeting happens and they grow into each other for a certain reason and this can be anything. If this same reason becomes obsession and then, this same obsession turns into a nightmare. Isn't it? So rather than being obsessed with each other and then loosing out why not maintain the right mixture of 'you'. 'me' and the 'us' that works great until the end. A bit of space and respect to the partner would do wonders to both of them and in turn would give the required amount of time for the fondness for each other to grow. For example, a person wouldn't know what is missing like without actually missing his/her dear one. So do give that opportunity of missing to be created. Now what i mean is don't cling on every now and then to each other. Love grows with distance is how to explain it perfectly. This is the most common thought that came into my mind trying to explain this. There can be a lot of other things that could make life interesting. Think... hihiihi.

All this because i watched a superb French movie called 'An affair of love'. Too good a movie i must say. This by thinking from the point of my views about this motion picture. By the way when i say motion picture i mean there are lots of scenes with 'motion' in them. Jus in case, i state this has to do with a lot of so called visual adult content. ;) I know this is not going to stop anyone from watching the movie. :) But only adding to the fact that people will watch it more as they grow curious to see what is it that is moving in the movie!! Hehe. By the way i was also started off like that but then what took me by surprise when watching it was then the acting was top notch from the lead actors (Nathalie Baye, Sergi López) or rather say only characters of the story. :) Full credits to them for creating that awesome chemistry between the characters. True to the movie's name, it's an affair that once started turns into love. Watch it to know why! I found it interesting but i don't know about you. Do ping me if you do find something interesting about this movie....
P.S: I do not know french and hence i found myself a sub script to do the translation for me. :)

And i Cheat too..

I'll do a bit of cheating in this blog sometimes. I mean most of the times ;) What i actually intend to say is that, err... i'll post my posts as back dated or front dated. Ok, lemme explain things. In simple words, i would be posting my posts of any date on any day. Obviously, the post dated tomorrow won't be shown to you today as it's a feature by Blogger site. I know a lot of bloggers do this(See, reasons are always there). Sometimes it happens so that you don't find time to write, sometimes you sit down to write but then you don't feel like writing (lazy?!) or might be jus that words are jus not falling into the right places(not your day kinda thing). After all this, the blogger(that is me) feels guilty for not posting posts on previous day. ;) (Thats what i'm feeling right now) Hehehee. I've not posted in 4 days now and i know it's bad. But i'm helpless. I was not felling like writing on these days as i was either busy with something or i was not in mood. So now, i'm sit down and am typing hard jus before i loose the interest.. ;)
Am writing this because, jus in case you are wondering on how this post arrived in my blog today though you had visited this place on 3rd and found nothing posted for that day!!!I know you guys are more than smart to have figured this trick out long ago but then i'm doing my part by accepting the fact. Yeah i'm cheating by jus publishing this post on my convenience. Please bear with me fellas. :) I know you would. (Not taking you granted in any way) ;)

Getaway..

Have been off to nearby town called Kasaragod this gone Sunday. It's situated geographically in the northern most part of the state of Kerala in India. Kerala happens to be blessed with mother natures gift of greenery. Backwaters, ayurveda, temples, kalari(a form of martial art), Kathakali(a dance form), beaches, fish delicacies etc are some of the pictures that comes to my mind when someone utters the word Kerala. '"God's own country" is the phrase that the tourism board of kerala has come up with! True i believe when, i see it in the perspective associating it with the words that i mentioned is attached with Kerala. Kasaragod is my native and have lived there as a kid. My parent still stay there and i visit them once in a while. The last sunday that has gone by was a day that i would remember in the days to come as it was something more than a regular visit to my hometown. I had some of my friends and colleagues with me from Udupi to visit an island situated in Kasaragod.
The place we planned to visit is called 'Thurthi island' in Chandragiri, Kasaragod. It lies on the river Payassuini jus a kilometer(approx) upstream from the place where it joins the Arabian sea. The land is privately owned by it's only occupants. A permission from the owner is required to travel to this place. It's quite easy to get there once you inform the owner of the place. He arranged a boat of his and a oarsman to take us safely to his island. A small hand made boat which could easily be occupied by 10 persons! :) The oarsman was a quite person with solid build. A look at the oar he was using was enough for me to judge why he looked strong. God, it was heavy and using this required some strength. he island is something that has been formed by silt deposited by the river from time to time. So the natural process of the island growth is on ongoing process even to this day at the cost of the riversides being eroded.
However, once we landed on the island all we could see was the plantation of arecanut and coconut trees. And we had in for a surprise when someone mentioned about the toddy!(toddy is a drink that is extracted from either coconut or palm trees and is intoxicating if drunk in considerable large amount). Some of my friends gave it a try and i gave the idea a skip as soon as i smelled it. Yucks man. It smells very bad. I know there are a lot of lovers for this drink. But then it didn't go with me. :) After all this we had a round of taking some dip in the river. The water was a bit of salty as the sea water must have managed to creep upstream as the water levels in summer is low in river. But i know this river in rainy season can be very dangerously flowing at a very high level and undercurrent at alarming rate which would put the person venturing into water at risk of loosing his life. I think basically the rainy season would leave the island highly inaccessible.
After the swim in the river we took some rest in the room that we rented out here. Pretty descent. They've total 3 cottages with 4 beds each that could be used for stay overnight. The roofing was the old fashioned mud tiles and as wooden false ceiling. This shielded the extremely hot weather from getting into the dwelling. This is something that is really missing in the houses that are built today.. :( Lunch was some packed fast food that we had gotten along on our way to the island. But some people got a treat of kerala chicken from the city as the oarsman was ready to get them food on demand. I think they had a nice time eating the long dead chicken. I pity the chicken! The sole purpose of its existence was to satisfy the human greed of satisfying the taste bud! hmm..
A visit to the Bekal fort was something that we thought we would not be able to include in our trip list before we had started for the day. But i think we all were of the opinion that we go to this old monument and then return back. So there we went in the hot blazing sun to visit the fort built by 'Ikkeri nayaks'. The famed Tippu Sulthan is said to have eventually taken over this fort only to be then passed to British east India company after his rule. The geographic location of this place is such that a lot of area can be seen from this point. Even the land and the sea. So it served as a major defense point for couple of centuries. Now this fort has no significance other than history. A few movies have been shot here. Other than that it has some tourist attraction. The fort has been restored by Archeological survey of india now. Some of the fort had been damaged and it has been put back now to restore back the majesty of the place. The view atop this fort is soothing with breeze constantly blowing from the sea.
We started our backward journey in our 5 motorbikes and a car with the sun setting and reached Udupi at about 9. So a day seeing places around in good company was worthily spent.
