Sooraj almost killed me...

Don't be surprised. It was definetly not any kind of plot aganist me to get me killed. I'm not someone who is so badly wanted dead by anyone.. ;) Hopefully this statement is true to itself. (Any claims? contact me and we need to speak a bit;)
It happened so that one of my friend Shashank had taken me to his native place. Located near Sullia in Karnataka. A big house and a big yard right in the middle of an arecanut plantation. wonderful place. I spot a diesel bullet in the garrage. On inquiring, found that it was owned by his younger bro. And being the two wheeler freak that i am, you know what to expect. I wanted to give it a try... i was a bit over confident i must say rearding my two wheeler driving skills. To kick start it is something that i didn't want to venture into. So promptly called upon my friend's bro and he did the hard work.... ;) Once i was sitting on it i was reminded that the brake pedals and gear levers were placed in sides that are fully opposite to ones that you normally have in motor bikes world around. I shoke my head and engaged the gear and let the clutch loose... everything was fine. Untill i shifted to second gear and gave the throttle a little twist... At this point in time i had forgotten the opposite sided placement of brake and gear leavers... as i neared the end of yard i started pressing the gear lever instead of the brake lever and expected the bullet to understand. And the moment i realised i was inches away from falling into a 40 yard deep hole at the end of the yard... would have been lying there seeing stars with the 180 kilo gaint on me. Or probably dead! I thanked my stars for the timely realization! And after this incident have promised myslef to not touch the bullets with levers placed opposite to that of normal bike lever placement. Phew!

PS: The Sooraj Automobiles of Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh, a company of India, offered this Motorcycle to the world in 1992 promising 86 km per Litre of Diesel. Using the trusty Royal Enfield frame it used a Lombardini engine with 325cc. The bike is no longer in production. The fuel tank is from a bike called the Yezdi made by Ideal Jawa of India. Thought would give more insights to this vehicle. ;)

A thought on thought... hi hi ;)

We think on so many things in a day. Thoughts arise if you wish for them or not. If you jus try and get conscious and take notice, it starts to amaze us (at least i amaze myself!) that we think on so many different thinks in a day! And it's not so amazing to know that so many of those thoughts jus die half-baked. Isn't it? It has happened to me many a times that i've thought on an particular matter. Must've given it a good amount of time to think on, and then suddenly sent it to thrash. No more than a blink of an eye most of the times is the amount of time required to stop a thought. It happens by itself most of the time or can be because of some interruption. The topics that we thought on are sometimes very abstract or very irrelevant at that particular point of time or circumstance. But on another given day it would really make sense. We need to give some free time to ourselves to give shape to these thoughts which can be helpful maybe in the near future. I think it's again another effort called for, as we jus remember only some points that we had highlighted the last time we had these same topics to think upon. But it's worth every moment you spend for it if it is costructive....

Thumb drive's dip!

Something interesting happened yesterday. I found it surprising and thought would be good to report this. It's about my thumb drive. I recently acquired a Transcend jetflash v60 thumb drive. A capacity of 8GB is something it boasts off. It's very handy and i jus have no hassles nor do i bother much to copy, carry data from one place to another. Usually carry it around in my coin pocket of my jeans trousers. Yesterday, like every other day i had carried the drive in my pockets. But what was unusual about it was i somehow forgot about the drive in the pocket. I Was in a hurry to attend a function and my mind was wandering as it was getting late. I jus removed my wallet from the trousers and soaked it in detergent. After half an hour it jus struck me that i've this drive soaked in detergent!! Ah ha... i went and took a look and with no amusement i pulled it out and washed the shell with tap water. Everything seemed to be over for the thumb drive. But wait, i jus thought why not test it and pulled the cap of the thumb to find it almost dry. Wow! and suddenly my dead hope got a boost. I decided to keep the thumb lying around open overnight. Today morning i plugged-in the thumb to the laptop. Voila, it seemed to work and with no glitches and drama. As good as it was. Is it magic? i don't know. But then it works as of now and don't know how long. All hail transcend. Did i tell you that i previously owned a 512Mb pendrive from transcend. A jetflash v30. That is about almost 2 years old and is working great. But i never gave that a bath.. hehehehe. Wel, my hands are itching... ;)

Politics and things i don't understand...

Sunday. Aaarrrgh! And why am i so pissed? because it's a day when the vote counting is supposed to happen for the by gone state general elections for the state assembly or lower house of the state of Karnataka. A state in India which plays a vital role in IT map of India. A culturally rich state with so many diversities and above all my home for past 13 years. So a lot of people would be covering the updates on the results. Isn't it? I normally don't follow politics a great deal. Jus know who is the prime minister, state chiefs and other ministers who have their portfolios. Do you have any idea how difficult it is to follow politics of my nation? First it's largest democracies of the world. On top of that we have a population that can make God knows whom proud! BTW, the national and state politics looks something like this here . Huh! I don't know who updates this in Wikipedia. i appreiate their patience. Keep it up. Political illiterates like me make good use of it. It gets so confusing with so much parties around. And i don't know how the voter decides whom to vote for. So many parties and so many agendas. I wonder if the parties themselves are clear on why they are existing! Ha, i bet most don't. And do all the memebers of the political parties carry the same view as of the party they belong to?
All said and done, i'm writing this post to jus express something i found really strange. I found so much enthu yesterday with all people i met yesterday glued to their TV sets. Eager to see who is winning and who is loosing. And then they passed comments when someone they knew off lost or won a seat for the respective party! and sometimes even making mockery of someone who lost badly followed. This not very surprising. Because i happened to come across the complacent speeches of this losers sometime back during their campaign. Lets not get not it now. And now who are these people who are bothering to take a look of the polical shaping in the state? Well, most of them who have voted. Say 60-70% of the population. What about the rest? i don't know seriously. I don't get to vote in this state because my electoral state is Kerala. PLace where i was bought up and my permanent address is still there as my parents reside there. :) Now what after the election results announced in the evening? Celebrations followed. Expected. Well, by now all discussions on how BJP won and congress and others lost have started. And it is sure that BJP being the single largest party with people support for this election would head to form government. Though they are short by 3-4 seats for absolute majority in the lower house. Ya, money does wonders with the independent candidates you see.. ;) By night every thing is normal and most of the people would have forgotten that there was a election campaign in not so distant past, a voting followed and then the counting of votes. A political party is not on the verge of forming the government. All claims that were claimed by the BJP needs to be watched closely now on how they would move ahead with the promises assured to people of this state. NOw, my question is, how many of this viewers of the TV will take interests to follow this in the near future on what is happening around politically? and if something at all happens how many will resist or bother to ask if something claimed was not acted upon by the ruling party? Does any news channel cover this part of the politics? ;)

Dada...

I wish Dada(Saurav Ganguly) hung up his cricketing gloves for good. I'm saying this because i'm a huge fan of his. I emphasise the word huge fan. I don't need to support the fact of being a huge fan of his because i know i love him as a cricketing fan and it doesn't need me to prove this fact. I cannot see him struggle in the IPL Twenty20. He is bleeding now. I agree he had a good innings some matches ago but then a flashing bat now and then is not enough to stay in contention. It's not what is good for cricket and himself. What he is scoring is not what is expected from him consistently.
He is an extra ordinary man. The prince of kolkota! Boy, i remeber enjoying his strokes, cuts and towering sixes in the late ninties and strat of this century. It was joy watching him dismiss anything and everything in the offside to the boundary. His menace earned him 'The god of offside' title. He earned place for himself in the team. Scripted a comeback for himself. Not once, but twice. !! The second comeback speaks in volumes about his grit and determination to succeed. He was dumped from the team when he was the captain of the team. Captaining Indian side was no joke. He built an excellent team was instrumental in getting those required wins for the nation. Now that he has proved all his critics wrong with a fairy tale comeback he should now re think where he now stands. He is in that stage of his career where a little wrong move will end his career in not a very good fairy tale ending. He might just get rejected to be selected and now age is not also on his side to fight back a comeback again. So why not fade away with grace than being told to leave? i think this happens and had happened with lot of players in the past. NOt only in this sport but a lot of others. I don't blame them. Its bound to happen. The love for the game is such that their minds are not ready to accept the fact that it's their time up. There are some other players on the blocks fresh and better than him waiting for a chance. Why not give them and the team an opportunity and do a world of good for fans like me and be remembered till eternity? i wish it's time he made me proud and a million others proud too again.

Blown away....phew!

Watched 'Cast away'. Do i need to say something else? My God! What a movie. By all means Tom hanks stands out in acting. It was a role made for him. BTW, i'm in love with his movies after i'd watch Forest gump a couple of years back. Hmm, i wouldn't write anything on the movie story. i know it's old. But people who have missed it, please do watch it. Jus Wiki on cast away movie and you'll find info on the movie more than required. So there is no point in writing about it again here.
Some of the scenes are so touchy in the movie. The way he celebrates when he manages to get fire burning on the iceland. It also shows us how far we have come in terms of civilization. :) Ain't it? The boat that he makes is something really superb again. Also once he escapes, he speaks to his friend about how he overcame fear of death. And not to mention the feelings of a person who returns home after spending 4 years of life in an island alone to find that one person whom he had breathed and lives and returned for is not his anymore. hmm, touchy movie. Go ahead and shed some tears guys. hehehehe...
Well, that pretty much brings my 3 days of movie indulgence to a halt. Now that reminds me that I've to move my lazy butt to office tomorrow. :( Sob sob.....

lie with...

Something that jus hit me when i was watching this movie called 'Lie with me'. A more or less effective depiction of longings of two young lovers who happen to get close physically first and then mentally. BTW, a word of caution though in case you happen to watch it since i have mentioned it here... The movie is shot with lot of nudity in it. So everyone might not happen to like it. But leaving aside this really steamy scenes in the movie, if you happen to watch the movie a bit closely, i think the topic on which the movie is made is really good.
Also something else that i could connect with the movie was that you can't expect the person you love to love you in return(or may be do things) in a way you want it to. Everyone has a separate idea of doing or getting things done. But some people are extremely lucky in that matter as it happens that what they get and what they want are jus the same. Not many are this lucky.
If you are in mood to watch a very slow movie and are not disturbed by nudity please go ahead and watch it.

On a roll!

Have got another day and half to spend for myself. Already have done so much of time spending to myself. It's been polling time in the place where i stay and was surprised with a sudden holiday on friday. With nothing to do i was stuck in my place and had time to kill. So i thought i would go on a movie watching spree. Long time since i watched movies in a row.!! A day and half and i've finished 4 movies. Don't be surprised :) i do manage to squeeze in hell a lot of time to watch good movies.
Alright, let me give you a little intro on my likes and dislikes when it comes to movies. Personally i don't like and watch horror movies. As i don't feel like watching them. Simple as that. They don't refresh me nor give me anything to think about them. So naturally i am not watching horror though i don't have anything against horror as such. Action does go with me sometimes but not always. A lot of my friends do love watching horror movies and love getting scared for themselves! ha! To hell with them anyways.
But romance, war, drama, comedy are the genre i would sit and start watching irrespective of what my mood may be in. Jus love 'em. Animated movies are also a bit not so touchy to me. I love the creativity and appreciate the patience of the makers but they really don't appeal me mentally. :( Hmm, so thats about me and my choice of movie genre.
So please bear with me if i happen to get 'enlightened' watching a movie or two and then write something once i see 'light' ;)hehehhe
Let me not waste time and catch up with the movies......

Pleasure in small things

As we grow old we happen to overlook a lot of small joyous things knowingly or most of the times unknowingly. Those small things that gave us immense happiness doing it not so very long ago. And as everyone or let me say 'almost everyone' does, i too followed suit. I'm no different.
I think once in a while we should take time off to re think on doing what would we feel better. Now when i am saying this please don't ask me questions like, will i get those same moments back?, will i happen to enjoy the same amount now doing those things? Well, i would say 'no'. You won't find some or most of the things amusing now at this particular stage of life as it used to be. But consider looking into all those even very small things that gave you pleasure doing it before you decide nothing is worth pleasurable as it used to be. Also i would say it would not be appropriate to compare the two instances on same scale. Each has it's own significance and differences. But i can bet you would still be amazed how wonderful it is to look into the sky on a clear night, walking on the sea shore barefoot or taking a dip in the hot sunny afternoon, sitting on a thick branch(remember you're heavy now) of a tree ;), getting drenched when it is raining heavily and playing soccer, hot chocolate drink on a rainy day for people who are used to coffee and tea now. Well try to look onto yourself in the mirror(useful for guys who've not seen selves in mirror for some time now). Also ask what would be keeping you happy if you were to do it in the next minute or continue doing it. I know a lot of things cannot be done as we grow up for different reasons. I was jus giving examples of what i was fond off. But there are many other things that are worth giving a try. Jus like how i found myself enjoying cycling again after a gap of almost 12 or 13 years! It's for you to find out what would give you happiness. Do not stop until you do find it.....

Change, me.

Over the years i somehow have changed as a person. I used to be effective in communication with people around me. This seems to have changed a little bit in the recent years that passed by. Something that made me change and sent me into my own shell. A more of an introvert if i can call it so. This has happened without my knowledge about it. Only recently did i come to a self realization about this. I gave it a thought on what could've caused it! Because to change my basic nature of myself, is consequence of something that is little more than something small. Though it did not happen all of a sudden it has taken something out of me over the years. Now, how i wish this change had not taken place. But it has and i've little time to get out of my shell and i will.
BTW, still i can't completely figure out what caused this. I've a vague feeling that it has to do with the places i've been in the last couple of years. Or maybe it's not. Things are a bit muddled up now. But then, that's what is the indication my mind is giving. Anyways, let me not try and waste much time on thinking about this for long. Actions need to be plotted and change is the need of the hour. So here i go plotting a change to change the change in me!! ;)

Food Crisis and what not?

Have you read recent comments from world leaders on global food and oil crisis? And them attributing the crisis to having been caused by someone other than them! Surprising? Well, that's what these so called super powers think is the problem for the world. And whom is it that it has been associated to? India and China! Of-course, We are one amongst the fast growing countries in the world now. Thanks to lot many things like youth, natural resource, Intellectual brilliance and lots more that we have to support us build. Do you think these abilities are something we acquired very recently? Ah! It was there since ages but we never utilized it in the best possible way. Or to put it in a better way probably is, never materialized. Why? Because, we were too busy to notice the world outside us and act accordingly or were we were busy with our own way of life. Too bothered to see what world is up to or what could be done. Also could be the fact that we were lazy. Ya, very lazy to compete. Now with the advent of technologies and micro world concept evolving, we have suddenly realized our potential. And thanks to the change in the approach of the newer generations we are better placed now than what we were couple of decades ago. Though not fully realized, it's better than yesterday and will be getting better with days to come. Lets stay optimistic and hope we don't over do ourselves by running over ourselves in the process.

Coming back to the comment on India and China fueling the world food crisis, i would say lot many things are also responsible for this. Be it loss of wheat farming in Australia or erratic climatic changes caused in lot many food producing countries in the last couple of years. And if someone thinks that India is consuming more food or more quality food then i would get angry on him. Don't we have the right to consume good quality food? every human being has for that matter of fact. Is someone objecting on that? Then, the people who are objecting also do not the right to eat quality food.

Only probable solution for this can be finding ways to increase production of food. Because people are obviously not going to starve when they have resources to buy it. So why not think of ways to produce more to meet the requirements? So that everyone has access to good food. :)

Bikes and imports...

I'm a great fan of vehicle on 2 wheels and i've said this before too if i remember it right. I jus love to ride them. This love of the two wheels started long back with the bicycle and then shifted to motored vehicles and the first motored vehicle i drove was my dad's Bajaj Chetak scooter. A 150cc engine and i'm not sure how much was the power but, must be some 8 or 10 BHp. And this was possible only with my dad helping me balance the vehicle. And the best part was that i was not tall enough then to sit on the seats and still be able to get my legs on the ground. :) A lot has changed after that in the next 13 years that followed and luckily now i drive my 180cc bike and it's got 16BHp of power in it and it's from Bajaj. Somehow, i still remember that jingle from the bajaj ad, 'buland bharath ki buland thasveer, hamara bajaj'. ;)

Puny, i'll say compared to a Ducati, Yamaha, honda and it's likes. I'm saying this because yesterday i happened to read in the newspapers that Ducati motor holding, Italy is launching it's range of bikes in India!! God, i was in for more shock when i read the article. There were 5 bikes in the offering and the prices ranged from 20-48Lakh Indian Rupees! I know that they are world renowned and winners of super-bike championships and things like that. But a whooping 48 Lakhs for Ducati Super-bike 1098R? Is the pricing sane enough? Well, it's 80000 euros if i directly convert currency from rupees to euros. And in europe it costs about less than half this price. I know customs duty is a serious factor that gets added when importing these vehicles which sets the prices soaring. But when you really compare the prices abroad to the ones we can bargain for, i don't think people in India get a fair deal. Well, Indian partner of Ducati is Precision Motors India Private Ltd.(which also sells famed Porsche and Audi brands in India under partnership with the original manufacturers).

Ducati and other manufacturers of world class products should concentrate on producing bikes here or at least some parts of it to lessen the costs in future. It'll help them and the customers as well. It'll also make the bike accessible to more number of people. After all that is what is engineering is all about. Lessening the cost and size of a product and increasing the quality. I for now appreciate the fact that Ducati has bothered to look into India for business and i would further appreciate it if somehow the costs come down in near future and some serious business plans are chalked out. I can't see that happening anytime too soon anyways. But i know it'll happen or else they'll stop selling in India in terms of quantity.

Something very similar happened recently when Yamaha motors planned to bring their famed R1 and MT1 bikes to India. They needed no partners as Yamaha motors has their presence in india. The bikes are priced better in this case at about 10-12 lakh Indian rupees. I guess people will look forward more towards a Yamaha R1 than a Ducati 1098R. Why? because both have a more or less similar racing history and tech specs. And i guess, pricing will be the major setback for Ducati's for now.

I think our government has to seriously think of reducing the vehicle import duties which are way too much. I'm also not saying here that it should be annulled. A competent duty charge should be there. Because if always duties remain so much high, our indian manufacturers of automobile will never feel threatened. This would not drive them to excel or to design better engines. Isn't it? And i also seriously think Indian automobiles are over priced(not all, but most). Decreasing of duties will also help Indian buyers who are want a automobile which is the best by all standards. A healthy competition and combination should be arrived at i feel. Because it's something that might effect us on national tax earnings and employment too(because the importers don't have factories here).

A King called Shah Rukh Khan!

Was watching TV last Sunday and there was this talk show going on in CNBC channel. The topic was IPL(as that is the most happening thing in my country now). With the host(a lady) was Mr. Shah Rukh Khan and two others. The questions were mostly based on aspects connected to IPL, the game, the buying of the teams by individuals, their involvement with their teams and things like that. I would like to share with you what i heard from SRK. He was just too good. He's sharp and he means business with every word. He is very shrewd and very efficient. To prove that he answered a lot of questions beautifully. I now know what is 'charm'. God, some people are gifted with it but, some really don't stop at the natural ability and go ahead to tweak this. And SRK is definitely one among them. His eyes say it all. They are razor edged and it speaks volumes.

I missed a big part of this interview and I'm ruing the fact that i did miss it. Because the answers that he were giving when i was viewing were superb. I loved listening to what him and watching him. I feel a person can learn a lot from him. His presentation skills are top notch. He utilizes the experience he has gained all over the years by acting on screen. He presents himself with grace and the speech is just flawless. He seems prepared and never at any point of time seem to stammer. Facts form the base for everything he speaks. Let me jolt out some points that he spoke that were seeming effortlessly spoken.

He is smart at times when he need to take cover on topics he is not very sure off. For example i felt it because, on being asked about release of Public offering of the IPL teams or IPL franchise, he just shrugged off the tricky question by saying he was not literate enough to think or comment on it. He said he didn't understand about virtual money business(Stocks) involved with the share market. And that he was rather happy being an old businessman who runs a shop and would be happy if he could pay his bill and have his food at end of the bussiness day! Pretty good unh!

Passion for work and concentrating on what he does has been his style. The king khan as we all know works very hard. As everybody knows how he worked hard to build his dream house and stuff like that we read here and there. During the talk, he said he loves his team and would still like to own his team and he supports only Kolkota Knight Riders. He also mentioned the fact that how he was marketing his team using his brand image. Because this kind of club event at this high level is new to India and he is getting the people to the stands to watch cricket with him, cheer for teams and in turn that helps popularize this format of the Game. Also on his abilities to get housewives and kids to ground to watch matches in spite of matches being held in the evening when all TV soaps are timed to air!! That's one achievement i would laud for. Also he spoke volumes on how he managed to find investors for the team and is struggling hard to give his hundred percent for brand image building so that his investors get the best out it. And how he wanted to seperate the huge burden of advertising for his team by not putting that pressure on players. So that they can concentrate on cricket. He said he is doing every bit that is possible from his end for the team and he wanted his team to compliment his hard work by giving good performance in the ground.... Now Mr.Ganguly and his team you've a good leader and your goal has been set. So go and support his leader by winning matches for him. As of now Kolkata is loosing.

To sum it up King Khan also mentioned that, he has lost more than 3 Kilos in 3 weeks!! Hmm, thats something. i liked it when he said that expectation of people always are getting bigger. And guess with what he compared it? Ya, his recently acquired 6 pack abs! He said now he thinks it would be a 8 pack expectation. :)

From those to whom much is given, much is expected

Sometime i had done a article on speech given by Mr.Steve Jobs to the graduating Stanford university students in year 2005. You can find it here.

Today i stumbled upon something very similar from none other than most famous drop out of Harvard University! Ya, Mr.Bill Gates the chairman of the Microsoft. It was for the commencement address to the Harvard University class of 2007. And he confesses a couple of things here.

Let's forget and not discuss whether Windows is a superior or inferior OS to other OSes in market today. What we need to notice is that he won the race. And it's also not just for a small amount of time, but for some long period of time. It's interesting isn't it? How is not an issue. He did is more applaudable here. Because many a people failed to do what he did.

One point that i never knew earlier about Mr. Gates was that he was the guy who got Steve Ballmer to drop out of business school. So it's true that achievers are the kind of people who facilitate people near and dear to get the best in them. Also they have this great eye for people whom they identify very early and both benefit from this. Had once read a story about a farmer who has the best crop year after year. He has the best seeds and the most wonderful thing about him is that he distributes best seeds to the farmers who are his neighbors without thinking that they would profit from it. It's because he knows that only if his neighboring farm also grows better crops, will his crop standards also improve when pollination happens. :) What would you call him? smart?(smart because he helps himself and others too) or wicked?(wicked because he is jus helping his cause of retaining the best crop and seeds every years) Obviously he benefits from the distribution of best seeds but then the neighbors too benefit from it. Don't they? Something similar has been happening in the field of technology as well for years because of some bigger companies. They jus raise the bar of expectation and grow. In turn everyone else grows around it and an good eco-system is formed.

Whatever, jus read this speech by Mr.Gates. Also see his views on improving the quality of life in the world and helping human cause.

PS: The title of this log were words said by Mr.Gates's mother. Mr.Gates mentions it in the speech.

A good habit called - Winning!!

There was this article i came across sometime that i don't exactly remember when. The article was about a plane that was carrying 37 members of the Marshall University Thundering Herd football squad and eight members of the coaching staff. The team members met a uneventful end when the plane they chartered to fly back to home crashed soon after take off from north Carolina airport in 1970. God! a very sad thing to happen! Loosing almost all it's side there was nothing that could be done to start playing again and get to winning ways. And win did they when they built a team out of some of the members of the team who were fortunately not on the crashed plane.
This piece of article led me to google for the Marshall university football team and wikipedia as usual gave me some insights into the story. And there it was mentioned a movie called 'We are marshall'.
Man, this movie was so inspirational to me. To loose a whole team, take the pain of loosing teammates, form the team, find people for it, train, loose and loose initially. Again try and try till you win the first game and then win and win till it becomes a habit!! Huh! Not everyone gets into this habit of winning. And it becomes pain and pleasure within to make a habit of winning.
And something very similar happened to Manchester United Football team too in the year 1958. And from ashes they too rose to where they are now. Amazing... Ain't it.. :)

Bored

Yes, an usual event that happens with everyone. But this time it's because i'm bored of IPL. Everyday matches and all the contraversy. Be it in the form of scanty clad cheerleaders or the issue of inter team fist fights between players. And then some of the australians, NZ players leave for duties to their country. All these makes me feel not so interested in the matches. And more over the team that i supported the most, 'The bangalore Royal challengers' are not at their best. The managed to loose all the matches they could have won. :( What a dissappointment. :( I've decieded that i'll jus update myself with the scores from websites after the matches end for the day. And this is how it is working for me from last two days. And to my amazement i'm finding a lot of my precious time is being spent by me for other useful activity and i'm feeling lively. This because I need not sulk now like i earlier did when watching a match as my side was loosing. Complaining of how we could win and how i watched a loosing match...
So here i am typing for my blog when the matches are going on...
